Subtext Mapping

The character I have chosen to Matt. 

o Create a subtext map for your character in one key scene.

Scene 7 the Meadow 

o Divide the scene into beats and write:

§ What the character says.

Matt in this scene is very support and creative as when the rest of the group gives up on the idea to save the stump he is behind Jay in saving the stump. Thinking of ideas until Jay comes up with the idea of starting a protest.  

§ What the character really means.

I think Matt in this scene felt betrayed by Clarke because in the script they seem like best friends and this really break there friendship. I also feel like he sees a little hope in the situation because i think he looks up to Jay a bit as he can keep going on even though Jay has been through a lot 

§ How they might show this physically (e.g., gestures, posture, facial expressions).

I think his Character will be very outrovert so i think in this scene he be a little bit more quite and less of himself, He be more in shock when he finds out its Clarkias Dads company so he be a bit motionless and his posture would be more frozen. As Jay come into the scene and they may up this new plan he start to warm up again going back into his old self. So I think he can start be more pacing about and use more hand gestures. To finish it off o think he has a little flirt with Maddie at the end of the scene so I think he would be dead cocky about it so he be giving the “ Cool” eyes and would not break that eye contact and his movement would be more controlled in a way not rubbing about.

Monday 13th 

Today we started to day by playing a loads of game this morning wise we waited for Kelly. But when Kelly made it into class she sat us all down and get into groups. we started taking about different emotions and using time that made us feel happy or upset to really feel them emotions. Then to rounds thing of we all layed on the floor and talk about our most proudest moments. we also did a charrater evaluation.   

Tuesday 14th

Today was a weird day, we started by working in the LRC but it got interrupted when i got sent to the Naughty story ( long but tragic story ) however moving onto today me and ben both decided that we wanted to do bouncers we just need the people for it. Luckly Noah and keiran and I wanted to do it again but we still need to find one more person. Me and Ben also need to work on getting our hands on the script.

Wednesday 15th

Today we started by playing some game and then doing more work on connections. we all slip into different groups and we all did a character analyse from a character from connections. we got given Jay the leading role and i think there is a lot to uncover with him as he still miss Colm his boyfriend who dead a year ago in the story and there like loads to him. The second half of my day was all filming as the feature film has finally begun and we started with nice scene nothing to big but was still good to the plot.

Thursday 16th

Today was a full day of Filming for the feature film and we flimming a really big scene but i cant talk about it. it was really fun too be with all the cast in full costume and i can not wait to carry on fliming.

Monday 20th

Today we had a full day of filming and we did scene 26 and 6. They where fun scene to film, Scene 26 was just a flash back but scene 6 was the murder scene so it was alot of fun to shoot this today. 

Tuesday 21st

Today was a very busy day, we started off by doing some course work and then me and ben started planning bouncers, we got the LRC to order the script so we need to wait for that but we done a character breakdown and have had ideas on how we want the piece to go. We also have talk to scarlet about combining our to pieces together and doing bouncers and shaker at the same time. more on that later. Finally Noah and keriean are doing a fight scene from Romeo and Julee and i could be in it but we need to wait and see.

Wednesday 22nd

Today was our connections audition, I went for the role of matt and i think i did an okay job durning the audition. Kelly said that the role was a small role but i was making it big. I did it again and it was ,much better. I have asked to be in DNA which is the other show that being but on because i have won connections before. On the afternoon We sarted flimming again. we did the interviews scene and they all went really well.

Thursday 23rd

Today was another full day of filming, On the morning we started by filming scene 1 in the white box room and some of the shot made it look Amazing. It really makes the start if the flim look spooky and i love it. On the afternoon we start by fliming the rest of scene 6 we just needed the shot with lily. Then after tht we moved onto scene 15 where everyone was falling out and was a really interesting scene. Fianlly we got out half way through scene 32 which is the reveal scene and we decide to reshoot it as it could of been done better and it was done alot better  

Monday 27th

Today was audition week and the last week of filming. Today we started with some warm up before doing some research into different between DNA and Normalised and what we could use from each set. this was really good to be fair because it save us money on buying a whole new set and make us think more creatively and make us work as a team. On the afternoon we had fliming and it was a big shoot for me and scarlet as it was our biggest scene in the whole movie. I think i did a really good job acting through out it i just hoping it looks good and my performance is okay too.

Tuesday 28th

This morning me and ben started doing more work on Bouncers and the script finally arrived so we are ready to start getting stuff sorted which feel nice but there still loads of work to-do. Moving onto fliming we had to reshoot scene 3 today as there was somthing wrong with the lighting which was stressful but okay. After that we made start of scene 7.

Wednesday 29th

Today where our recalls and audition day for normalised and I practised for Phil in DNA however they did not get to DNA so that for tomorrow.

Thursday 30th

Today was my audition for DNA. we had the morning to prepare our piece and any group piece we wanted to-do and my audition went okay I thought I could of done a better job but there always room for improvement. I stuttered a little when saying my lines and it slowed down the pace of the performances but overall i think i played Phil very well. 

Friday 31th

Today was our last day of shooting on the feature film, It was a very long day today but it was really good and sad as i am going to miss fliming and all the jokes we have had from it. we flimed scene 29 30, 32,33 and scene 7.  

Monday 3rd

Today we did not have the cast list this morning but we did one more work on DNA and Normalised, we did some imporvation scene to help us with our thinking and understnadment of loss and greif use the song yesterday by the Beatles. On the afternoon me and ben went throught our first sket scene of bouncer and just plan what we wanted durning that scene. this was helpful because that mean we know what where doing Tuesday  

Tuesday 4th 

Today was our first day practising bouncers, Connor was ill so he could not come in so we only had 3 of us. We started with the First Lads scene. Me and ben really wanted too play off the Lads vibe so we made them think that they where the sit and being " romantic " but being creeps instead. they more work that needs to be done but even the lads have came up with some great ideas. On the afternoon me and ben did some more research for the show and watch Max and Paddy to give us some idea on what to-do. It was very good and important to watch it because they both play bouncers and the show does a really good job with the comedy. 

Wednesday 5th

Today was our first day working on DNA, i got the role of Phil which I am very happy about and i got to meet with my team. We where missing a few but we started with our planning on costume and had a read of the script and had our thought on when it was set and start to make ideas. after lunch we started to get the first few scene onto its feet and we coved the first gang scene which was really good then abby wanted us to-do some research on a dancing Practioners to help with our movement 

Thursday 6th  

Today we had Tom on the morning and we started by doing some bouncers scene as Tom was giving all off us feed back. We spent most the morning doing this as it took some time to-do the whole class. we even started to mix bouncers and shakers together which was really good. Tom have me some really good feed back, he said that i am working at a distinction level but i need to do more research in area to push it up even more. I am planning to-do this with my unit 11 question. On the afternoon we had another DNA rehearsal and we worked on the first gang scene with Tom, he made it so much more stressful as in the scene to watch not to work with him as he made the character Brain, Lou and Danny to cry make the scene more intense and make my plan monologue more powerful as well.

Monday 10th

Today we started off this morning by getting into our DNA Teams and having a chat on what we need to-do and what we need to complete. we where a little be hide because some of our cast where off ill last week but where ready to power on and move on. we all sat down and talked about costume and poster and any ideas we have for the show. We came up with the idea we will start the show in a blackout and will play a heartbeat getting faster and faster until light come up and the show start. we also thinking that for the ending as well because we don't want it just to end on a blackout. more work on that later. Moving onto the afternoon I did some work with Kieran and Imogen with a few monologue that are in the show. We worked on Phil reactions through them and also made some more links with Leah and Phil which was good. The final thing i did today was i went through was bouncers scene with ben that we where ging to do tomorrow.

Tuesday 11th

Today we started by trying to find a room but then ones we did we had our read through on bouncers. however Connor had to leave early to catch up on some work. This but Me and Ben in a very difficult situation because now we lost a rehearsal and we are be hide one scene, Also i am teaching a class next Tuesday so we had no choice but to cut Connor from it. Ben will play his role and it will be a lot easy this way. We then on the afternoon we did our first scene being bouncer and we got the layout of it all right just need to go over it and do some work here and there. 

Wednesday 12th

Today we started with some love game because it was valentines which was really nice as we did it the same time last year. then we got started with  rehearsal. It was again hard to do it without certain poeple but we did as many scene as we could of done. On the aftertoon we had abbi and she was teaching us more dance. We had to make a movement piece from some photos she showed us. our group did a really good job and funny enough we kinda used all 3 by the end of it. we get to show it next week.

Thursday 13th

Today we started off the morning by doing our table scenes. Before filming them me and scarlet had a talk about bouncers and shakers, she change some scene to her and has change a few different parts to it now which is okay because we worked it out. On the afternoon again we did not have a full cast so instead we did an improvaside scene about what happend after Phil gave his plan. It was really good as all the charrater had there own moment which was sweet

Monday 17th

 Today we started the day by showing the class our improvised piece we did 

Tuesday 18th

Today was another day for bouncers. However on the morning I taught a lesson to the year 1 about Michael Chevhok. I did this because it  links to my Unit 11 question and i needed to get some primary research so this was the best way forward. I ask them to give me feedback by the form on Google and I had some lovely feed back.  Onto the second half of the morning Me and the Lads work on all of our scene and qiuckly got throught the final scene which was nice. Its really funny and we made sure that its got a really strong end. After lunch I went down to the printer and printed off a master script with both Shakers and Bouncers scene's in. This will help the person on the tech as it will have all of the Tracks and stuff. To finish off the day We showed the first scene and the last scene to kelly and she gave us some notes.  

Wednesday 19th

Today we spent the morning working on our characters and having a Team meeting. We all talk about our plans for the day and talked about any areas we where worried about. Our biggest worry was blocking because we always end up in a line so we worked on that. then we cleared other stuff up as well. On the Afternoon we started by going to the green screen room and working on Scene 2 blocking and then worked on Scene 3 which was amazing because we all did such a good job at it. We made it quite and more intences. we then did some movement with abby and we show the piece we did from last week.

Thursday 20th

Today we started with Tom and we learnt a song called welcome to the rock from come from away. It was really good but we will finish it over half term. Then we did some scene with Kelly in a drama setting and we where playing doctors in that scene. on the afternoon we did a hour rehersaul in the theare before doing a green day song with Tom to finish the day off.

Monday 3rd

Today was one of our last Mondays we had before our show week. Sadly again we did not have everyone in. its starting to become a bit of a problem however to one of the cast members they are excused because something very sad happened to them. We started by having a meeting making sure everything was alright with our props and set and we did our first 2 scenes. After lunch we showed it too Kelly and she gave us feed back and help us improve the scene. 

Tuesday 4th

Today was a little bit of a slow day today. Normalised got the priority so we lost a few of our cast today but we still work on some scene. Me and Kieran work on the final scene and me and Ben did some more bouncers work.

Wednesday 5th

Today was another slow day as the morning Normalised took most of the people to do a cast run so on the morning  i was helping out with some SRC fringe work and the people in charge told me that bouncers was to long so me Ben and Scarlet need to sort it out with them. On the afternoon we did some work on scene 3 and its looks in good shape we just need the full cast so we can go over it.

Thursday 6th

Thursday was a busy day, we started with Tom and we finish Welcome to the rock, and start taking about next weeks song. Then for the rest of the morning we did Bouncers so we started with the first girl scene and its okay it just need a little polishing, I also spoke to Kelly and  we have organised the school and all the groups will be going on tour which is great. On the afternoon it was a little slow again because Normalised did another run meaning i lost the cast members again. 

Monday 10th

Today was a busy day, we started by doing a DNA rehearsal WITH A FULLY CAST, it was amazing but a new problem started. That was Imogene who is Leah could not do the Thursday but after the full morning and afternoon of negotiating we are doing it on the Thursday however Lola will be stepping in on the night.

Tuesday 11th

Today the first part of the morning we where doing bouncers and shakers and we started to run the first few scene together and started to connect them and its coming to gather really well. I think the main thing that we need to do is just got off scrpit because we do know some scene just not all of them but im not too worried about it now something we can work on next week. In the afternoon Me and Jack Reidy got a little planned for next week and we start getting stuff ready for the tour. got props list and cast list all ready for the school tours.

Wednesday 12th

Today we started the morning with going over scene 3 in the space that we had and then i had to do the Tech Run for Normalised because i am now a builder in the show. My note was Kelly think i should have an apprentice so i have Chosen Lola an she is more then happy to do it. For the rest of the afternoon, we started a full run of the show and we got about half way until we ran out of time

Thursday 13th

Today was Normalised day and we started by doing some warm up and they main cast did some scene they needed to work on then we ran a few scene from QUE to Que before doing our last dress run. The show went really well and the director seemed impressed by it so i am very happy but cant wait for DNA

Monday 17th

Today is the start of our tech week of DNA, we started by going into the dance studio and getting into the costume for the first time and  took some photos. we got some good rehearsal photos and we also did some rehearsals. On the afternoon we had our tech and had a fully dress run as well which was good because we made some mistakes. 

Tuesday 18th

Today was bouncers day, however we did not have Noah so we could not really rehearse anything and we had to show something so we work with shaker and did some of there scene with them as we are crossing over in our project. On the afternoon i did some research on my audition for royal Welsh on the 31st of March. I found a monologue about a teacher being accused of SA by a former student, i want to show this monologue with more distress and sadness then anger like my other one.   

Wednesday 19th

Today was our last Tech day. we started the day with another dress run of DNA and after it we know we needed to work on the ending as we got some scene in the wrong place, these scene where the last leah  and Phil scene,  Jan and marks last scene and the final scene. we also worked on the blocking for the final gang scene as well as it was a little messy but we cleared it up. Then i help out with the other casts and started getting ready for tomorrow. I also got a full plan for the school trips but i dont need to worry about it now.  

Thursday 20th

Today was a very busy, I came in at 9.00 and started get ready for our morning show in front of the school, we did some warm up and last checks on stage making sure everything is in place. The first show went really well and we even talk to the school and talk about the whole process of making DNA, they really enjoyed it which was good. Straight after that i had a lesson with Tom and we did some polishing welcome to the rock. After lunch i went into a meaning with Ofsted and they ask us some questions. it was really nice as we all supported each other in a good way. We did some notes for normalised and then got ready for the night show which went even better. The other cast did really good as well.

Mondays 24th

Tuesday 25th

We started the morning with bouncer rehearsal, But the thing i did for the rest of the day i was working on my auditions for royal Welsh.The two monologues i will be doing is firstly The comedy of errors and secondly Alligator. Both of them are really strong monologue and i cant wait to do them. 

Wednesday 26th

Today we had a full read of the lovely bones and the railway children. The lovely bones was really good, it is the show i want to be apart off and the role i think i am going to go for is Mr Harvey. I like how the story makes you lock in for the whole time your reading. The railway children was really good as well its not as traumatic but it does have some sad and crying in joy moments in the show like when the dad come back at the end. 

Thursday 27th

Today we started with Tom with singing 525600 which will be our fringe ending song and its a really good song to end the show with. We then had Kelly and she talked to us about auditions for next week. Taking to us about our auditions and what she wanted. for the rest of the day we did some DNA prep.

Monday 31st

Today i was in Manchester doing my royal welsh audition, I think it went really well they asked to see 3 out of my four monologue which is a good sign. 

Tuesday 1st

Today we started the day off by doing some bouncer read through of all of the scenes as next week will have have a little dress run. However On the afternoon i spend most of the day getting ready for the lovely bones audition. i have gone with my serious monologue from yesterday but made it into the style of Mr harvey because that is the character i am going for.   

Wednesday 2nd 

Today was audition day. I had mine in the morning and Kelly and Abby was very impressed
