Hello, my names is George and this is my acting journey, hopefully what I write about today is something I could look back on in a years time to see how far I have came on my acting journey. my first impressions. I was lucky to have some friends so least I knew someone and was not completely alone. But my first impressions about the whole course was blown away. For the amount of opportunity's that this courses gives me as an actor is unbelievable, from only in a few weeks time to perform at the Stockton globe and for later down the roads, to perform a play that has never been performed before. That's not including the two plays we do at Christmas ( which is peter pan) and another play at the end of the school year which still has not been confirmed. either way I'm still blown away because we do all of that and that's not including all the opportunity's for the films and tv. I think the best parts of the collage will be the theatre performances like perter pan or the connections play. I have always loved being on a stage every since I was 4 years old and I went onto one for the first time. Also I think that the performances part is the most fun part. I think the hardest part of the course will be the rehearsals. I think this because of the pressure for the play to be well rehearsed and the expectation to do good . Lastly, the skill I am most exited to expand on is learning how to properly and effectively show emotion like sadness and anger in a scene. When I try and portray my character's sadness, I feel like I use more anger then actual sorrow like heart ache. For my anger side of acting I feel like sometime I just shout and have no emotional expression to it.
Who am I as an actor in this moment in time?
Well, its safe to say that I have had a long journey from when I first started acting until now. The first time I ever went onto a stage is the time I discovered acting, its was a yearly pantomime at Sunderland Empire and this years was Peter Pan. This was the years that I was chosen to go up onto the stage at the end of the shows. I still remember walking through the back stage and being on the stage. But that was the day I knew that acting is my passion. As you can see on the image ( not very well ) I'm in the middle of Smee and Tinkerbelle. I was 4 years old
After that Christmas at about Easter time, I decide to go forward with my acting passion and join an acting group. Now coinciding that this was an acting group run by two mams and we had to pay 3 pounds a week, it was not an acting club that could take me to the west end or but me forward into a film. But at least it taught me the basics skills of acting like freeze frames and emotions. We had a end of years shows where u could do anything of your own creations ( acting, singing dancing ) for the 4 years that I was there some rememberable moment was performing at a one star pub, my end of years performances that weren't very good at all ( I'm a elf get me out of there, who shot Donald Trump and the party kidnap comedy) and the final performances being my first good one I sang Believer by Imagine Dragons. With doing other stuff like dancing performances teaching me some of the basics with that.
I left there after 4 years as it started to become repetitive and I needed something were it will improve and teach me new acting skills so I left there to join Stagecoach. This helped with my journey a lot because we did an hour of singing, acting and dancing every week. Leading up to our terms shows which were musicals and pantomime at Christmas. I performed in Legally Blond, Shrek the musical, Grease and pantomimes like Cinderella. Then I was also suppose to performance at the west end doing an Elton John tribute for there yearly stagecoach showcase but stopped because of covid 19. I left stagecoach in December 2022 after being there for about 5 years.
Northfield school and sport collage, that's is my secondarily school and I was very well knows for being apart of the Drama club ( Northfield theatre company ) . Over the years at Northfield I did 3 main performances for them. From taking part of there own original play the Thankful Soldier, Oliver twist the musical and Sister Act the musical. These gave me a lot of experiences with my acting because I was working with a full cast completing a full musical production.
My final performance, that would leads me to today would be my Autism Got Talent, I performed at the Stockton Globe for Daisy Chain and with Anna Kennedy. This was just truly amazing because it was the first time I ever performed in a professional theatre venue. which now leads me to today starting my acting journey at SRC!!!
