UNIT 11 - Whats your specialism ( Dear Evan Hansen )

Task 1 

1) In the scene that I did, it was the scene when Evan and his mam Heidi when they both fall out with each other that has been building from the start of the show. They are in their family home and there falling out because Heidi is upset at  Evan for staying with Connors house but Evan does not care because his mam is never at home. A few thing lead to this point from the main story of Evan and Connors family to how Evan used to live with his mam never being home and him having no friends.

2)Evan objective in the scene is to really dig it to his mam who he thinks she just been disowning of him because she never there for him. However his motivation is everything he been going through in the story so far. Heidi objective is to tell Evan off for staying at Connors family house because that not his family but i think what she does is a breaking point for Evan. The Motivation is to not lose Evan as she works two jobs being a single mam and she just worried for him.  

3) the Emotional stake is very hard in this scene because Evan does not think he need his Heidi anymore because of his " New family" and Heidi just wants to help her son but she goes about it in the wrong way about it making them fall out.

4)Rhythm of the Scene is a very strange, It starts with Heidi having a go at Evan with a very aggressive start but having a broken ending because of Evan final line. Her emotions also effect this rhythm as she very fast to speak the lines but at the end when she sad and worried she slower then she was. Evan is the same like Heidi but the opposite way round as he started slow because he in trouble then he finds his back bones and really stick's it to his mam.


Task 4

1) I would say that the techniques that was the most useful for this scene would of been our work on facial expression. Read through our scene me and scarlet were aware of the context and subtext of this scene and we thought it was very important to show it not just through our voice but also through our faces.

2) our biggest challenge was keeping the moment between us. We did have a few problems with keeping in the moment so the first thing we did was we went over the whole scene but in the dance studios mirrors. Its sound weird but we could see how we reacted to each other lines and how we could make it better. The second thing we where working on was eye lines and where to look because Scarlet sometime look away which broke the moment but we worked on it.

3) i think i did a really good job on understanding Evan and what he had to deal with but also understand is broken relationship with his mam. It really important for me and Scarlet to have understand the relationship of  Evan and his mum however I thought we both really understood this because during the rehearsal we could start expanding on the idea of this trying different way of performing that scene like Evan had all the power in the room or it was only his mam even using just one emotion like sadness or fruition all leading to use using different power play and emotions in different places also helping our rhythm of the scene.

 Inderpented study Week 1  Subtext Mapping The character I have chosen to Matt.  o Create a subtext map for your character in one key scene. Scene 7 the Meadow  o Divide the scene into beats and write: § What the character says. Matt in this scene is very support and creative as when the rest of the group gives up on the idea to save the stump he is behind Jay in saving the stump. Thinking of ideas until Jay comes up with the idea of starting a protest.   § What the character really means. I think Matt in this scene felt betrayed by Clarke because in the script they seem like best friends and this really break there friendship.  Task 1  (A)  I think myself as an actor has learnt so much in the first year of training at the collage but I still think there are area that will need to be work on.  Lets start with my strengths, The first area I want to look at is acting through genres, I think my strong genres for my acting is Comedy because I am very good at understand where the jokes  and comedic timing  are. Like playing Captain Hook for example working with Smee in most of our scene playing off each other, Leading onto my next strength being working and playing off other actors. Not just in Comedy but also in Dramatic plays as well I think I can work and play off well with other actors like when I play Chief Bromden and work with an actor called Callum Gordan who play R.P McMurphy when I did One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.
